Memories of Summer

Act 8 : A Summer Sunday

I hope you don’t judge me on this. I mean, it's not illegal. Although yeah, it's a bit sneaky, but I just can't help it. I met her again today. She looked as beautiful as ever.

She wore this cute white sundress. Oh I forgot, it's eggshell. Eggshell white. It turns out that there are different shades of white and the dress she wore was in this particular shade, eggshell.

I don't get it either. Black is black. White is white. And there are 36 colors in the regular Crayola box. But I can't argue with her on that. She said she is studying fashion design. So I guess she knows that stuff. But anyway, whether she was in eggshell, ivory, cream or pigeon-poop white dress, she would still be as lovely.

Aside from a half hour lecture about color schemes and other fashion related things that I have absolutely no idea about, everything went well. Actually no, everything was great.

It was a Sunday so I accompanied her to her church. Never mind that I am not even Christian, it was a nice experience. I might actually change my religion now if my wish that she change her mind about her marriage with that Kyuhyun guy magically comes true. Hey, I gave donations too. I hope that counts as a bribe of some sorts.

After the church service, she needed to take her cat to the pet spa. I had no idea that cats went to spas too. I have never been in one myself. She said that her cat’s name is Yoseob and that she named it after a member of the band called Beast. According to her, they are one of the most popular idols in Korea now. What’s strange is that I have never heard of them or any of their songs. But then again, the only idol group that I know of is TVXQ.

She was afraid that Yoseob wouldn’t like me. It was an old house cat that didn’t like to be bothered according to her. Surprisingly, her pet was anything but hostile to me. I can’t say the same for the poor guy in the pet spa though. He had three welts on his arm when we left. It’s a surprise he was still alive when we went back to fetch the cat later that afternoon. What can I say? I guess even her pet likes me for her.

We spent the sunny afternoon strolling in the park. It was hella cheesy but I really enjoyed it. Maybe this is what happens when you haven’t been in a relationship for a while. It’s been years since Vic and I broke up. I haven’t dated anyone since, so everything felt bright and new again for me.

When the sun went down, we went to this Italian restaurant about a few blocks away from the old coffee shop to have dinner. I can't say that it was the best place to have a dinner date but it was ok. The food wasn’t that great but at least the noisy owner gave us free wine. The old lady was nice. If there was something good about that place was their service.  The staff was all nice and greeted us   "Welcome back Ma'am and Sir." with a big smile even if it was actually our first visit there. It gave the restaurant a homey and familiar feel. I guess that makes up for the strange stench of the place.
